Plastic surgery by Dr. Usha Rajagopal for mothers!

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery is a method of enlarging the breasts through the use of saline or silicone breast implants. Breast lifts work to reduce sagging of the breasts, a common problem after having children.

Frequently Asked Questions about Breast Augmentation:

How much will my breast augmentation cost?
Breast Augmentation with saline implants will cost $6,600 & up. Breast Augmentation with silicone implants will cost $7,200 & up.

What are my breast implant options?
Dr. Rajagoal, MD uses either saline or silicone implants in her procedures. The brands offered at the San Francisco Plastic Surgery and Laser Center are Natrelle, Sientra, and Inspira. Dr. Usha will guide you through the process of selecting the right implants to compliment the width of your breasts and your body shape.

How bad will the scarring be after my procedure?
The incision can be made in the armpit, in the crease where the breast meets the chest, or around the areola (the dark skin surround the nipple). Every effort will be made by Dr. Rajagopal to ensure that the incision is placed so the resulting scars will be as inconspicuous as possible. Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. They will remain the same size for several months or may actually appear to widen. Several months after surgery, the scars will begin to fade, although they will never disappear.

What should I expect after my surgery?
After your procedure, you’re likely to feel very tired and sore for a few days, but you’ll be up and about in 24 to 48 hours. Most of your discomfort can be controlled by prescribed pain medication that will be given to you by Dr. Usha after your surgery. It is also possible that you may experience a burning sensation in your nipples for about two weeks, but as the bruising goes down, this burning will subside. Your stitches will come out in seven to ten days, however you may have some swelling for three to five weeks.

How do I know I’m a good candidate for a breast augmentation?

You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation if you wish to:

  • Enhance your body contour because you feel that your breasts are too small.
  • Use this reconstructive technique following a different breast surgery
  • Balance a difference in breast sizes
  • Correct a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy
